Terms of use

No paid service is being sold. The public calculator is free for everyone and requires no account. Saved accounts are currently an invitation-only beta. The service may change, contain errors or be withdrawn. Beta testers should keep an independent copy of information they would not want to lose.

Educational planning tool

Life in Real Terms provides calculations and organisational tools. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, immigration or retirement advice. Outputs depend on user inputs and uncertain assumptions.

No promise of returns or retirement date

Expected returns are estimates, not guarantees. The date at which expected real output equals spending is not a recommendation to retire. Market volatility, sequence risk, inflation, taxes and personal circumstances can produce materially different outcomes.

Manual country scenarios

Changing a country name does not automatically recalculate salary, living costs or tax. A country scenario uses only the figures entered by the user. It is not a determination of tax residence, liability, immigration status or legal entitlement.

User responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of information entered, decisions made from it, securing your password and any optional emergency recovery code, and complying with applicable law. Do not upload or link material you lack permission to use.

Beta availability and changes

The beta is supplied without a promise of uninterrupted availability or permanent compatibility. Accounts may be suspended for abuse, attacks or unlawful use. Export tools are provided so users can retain their own copy before relying on continued access.

Loss of access

Creating an emergency recovery code is optional. Without a saved code, forgetting the password means the encrypted financial records cannot be reopened. This is a consequence of the privacy design. Read the security page before entering financial information.

Before payment is ever accepted

The beta has no price, renewal or subscription. Before any paid launch, separate commercial terms must identify the operating legal entity, contact details, governing law, prices, taxes, billing interval, renewal, cancellation, refunds, consumer rights, service commitments and enforceable liability terms. Until those details exist and are displayed before checkout, no paid plan should be offered.
